What Do We Do?

We aim to maximise income for clients by :-

  • Providing a free Welfare Benefits Information and Advice Service to disabled people and carers in Scotland and supporting them through the complex bureaucratic system
  • Completing claim forms by phone or in person
  • Providing a Benefits Advice service to patients in Western General Hospital, Edinburgh
  • Giving advice when benefits have been refused
  • Networking with groups in the community, promoting benefit take-up, and the DIG service

Why Is Our Service Different To Others?

Each client is allocated a Personal Adviser who guides and provides moral support at all stages of the claims process, ensuring that all relevant benefits are claimed. Sometimes the award of one benefit can lead to another. The Adviser makes sure the “jigsaw” is complete.

Our staff are well trained professionals and have experience and expertise in dealing with the full range of disabilities. We deal with disabled people of all ages.

"Most disabled people tend to underestimate their problems and our staff are very experienced in enabling clients to express these realistically."

Claim forms for two of the main disability benefits – Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance – ask very sensitive questions particularly about personal care. Most disabled persons tend to underestimate their problems and our staff are very experienced in enabling clients to express these realistically.

Our last customer survey indicated that 99.8% of clients were satisfied with our service.
